David & Megan Guevara
I, David, was born and raised in Honduras. After graduating from High School I had the opportunity to attend Piedmont Baptist College in North Carolina. I worked at the school’s library and during my sophomore year I noticed a freshman young lady named Megan who had started working there too. Needless to say, I was motivated to go to work and file away books and charge late fees. I graduated with my Bachelor degree in 2003. Megan and I were married a month after my graduation. Together we made the leap overseas to Honduras in 2005, taking with us our 5-month-old baby boy, Andrew. We joined the missionary family at Bible Basics International in 2006. Our home and sending church is Salem Baptist Church in Winston Salem, NC.
If I could summarize my life to this point, I would have to describe it as a process of letting go — letting go of people, places, things, and self so that my heart and hands might cling to the cross. My letting go started at a young age when my family left our Ohio home to serve as full-time missionaries in Zambia, Africa. It was there that I first experienced the richness that can be experienced when we let go of our own fears and plans and follow God. I found God to be trustworthy and sufficient for whatever lay ahead. He has proven to be so over and over again as He has led me through a Counseling degree, led me to a God-fearing husband and leader, given us four incredible children, and faithfully guided us over twelve years of missionary service. The future will almost certainly bring many more changes, more letting go, and that’s ok. The cross is enough, His grace is enough.
What We Do
Our hearts desire and calling from the Lord is to come alongside the people in Honduras and grow together in the knowledge of God through the study of His Word. We want to be active participants in the spreading of gospel power around the world. We seek to:
- evangelize the lost
- encourage believers to live a close and fulfilling life as they walk with Jesus
- train pastors and church leaders in the rural areas of the country to properly and responsibly study and teach God’s Word
- put our faith into action as we seek to help meet physical needs in our surrounding communities through short-term missionary efforts.
We recently began working to develop an organic farm. The goal is to utilize Honduran resources to be able to provide Honduran pastors with tools and training at no cost. Ultimately, we want to send these men as missionaries in Honduras and potentially overseas. If you would like join our support group by partnering with us through prayer and financial support we encourage you to come alongside of us in this endeavor. Go or Send! There is no option “C”!
